Porphyrias raw sienna and The Laboratory Porphyrias Lover and The Laboratory both deal with crimes ofpassion. look for ways Browning explains ways of obsessive nature ofhis character and analytic thinking the effects of literary techniques.Porphyrias Lover is a poem almost a crime and passion. Porphyria isa young, wealthy girl who seems to have put away her familystradition of choosing wealthy men as jazzrs. Her lover cadaveranonymous, this could be because he has murdered her and does not wanthis name releasing. on that point is no actual reference as to wherefore he perpetrate this crime we can only make suggestions. Perhaps it wasbecause she would not desolate her affluent companions for him, orbecause he felt she did not share his love for her. This poem is inthe lovers point of view only, so we can not really k in a flash howPorphyria is touch sensation, we can only recall from her body language and heractions mentioned and her actions. It is a Victorian poem and Bro wninguses inner references, which is very unusual because sex was a tabooand was not discussed openly in Victorian times. At the beginning of the poem, there is a squeeze brewing which ismirroring the lovers feelings. He is angry at Porphyria and desperately wants her loveThe sullen wind was soon awake,It tore the elm exceed down for spite,The wind has been personified which is particularly effective becauseit heightens the anger the lover is feeling and soon realises this.Browning cleverly sets the scene by using intemperate word such assullen, tore and vex. already we can see that this man, thelover, desperately craves the love of Porphyria, and leads us toquestion why he is so angry and what happened previous to this as tomake him ... ...eless of body, and he wants her, he possesses her. This time it is she that needshim, she was not strong enough beforehand but straightaway it is she that needs him.He is trying to make comparisons from before and now, he wants to goback to that moment and hold it.I propped her take aim up as before,We see that, in death, the head is extremely strong now because he nowhas to hold it in place she has now been reduced to a limp corpse. The lover depersonalises her by thinking for her, and now she trulyis, his possession. He feels he has won the battle with her wealthfamily and friendsAnd I, its love, am gained insteadHe now believes that he has evaded the law and has her forever now, backward to share her with anyone else. He feels God is condoning hisactions, and will not be punished, he is arrogantly believing he hasescaped charges of murder.
